THE CONTEMPORARY GARDEN
Combines the straight lines of the formal pattern with the curved lines of the cottage and naturalistic patterns. Perhaps the best choice where the garden shares space with active recreational areas. Note primary and secondary patio, relative to swimming pool, as well as deck and hot tub area.

THE PLANTER GARDEN
Natural choice for roof top gardens or small areas having little top soil, and poor under-drainage. The raised planters must be insulated to protect against excessive winter temperature fluctuation. Excellent for growing herbaceous plants and small trees. Use evergreens for accent, complementing the design form.

THE NATURAL WILDFLOWER GARDEN
A very casual informal atmosphere. A slight rise in the topography or a secluded corner of the property provide ideal locations. Strategically placed rocks and a path provide basic layout. Trillium, ferns, and foam flowers are used
all together, with the addition of plants of personal interest to the gardener.

THE FORMAL GARDEN
Ideally suited for narrow lot, and offering passive rather than active recreation. There is always a central axis, featuring identical layout and plant material on either side. The gate, built into an architectural wall, gives the illusion of distance beyond.
